For automotive connectors, since many parts are related to safety, it is very important to use automotive connector selection. Among them, the part of the seal connector near the engine should have a temperature resistance of 150℃ or higher, and the other connectors should withstand a temperature of 105℃ or 85℃. Therefore, the temperature resistance of automotive connectors is higher than that of ordinary connectors.

The harsh environment of the car during driving will affect the use of the product. For example, the line is short-circuited after the car is washed, or the camera is blurred, etc. This is because the connector is not waterproof. In order to avoid the impact on safety and performance, the waterproof of the car connector is another important performance. Between the male connector and the device, between the female connector and the cable, between the male connector and the cable, and between the female connector and the cable, the four types of connections need to be waterproofed. The international automotive connector waterproof standard is IP67, which is also the industry's waterproof standard. According to different car parts, there will be different waterproof requirements. There are three main types of waterproofing for automotive connectors: 1)Structural waterproofing; 2)The sealing ring (silicone ring) for waterproofing; 3)Use waterproof glue for waterproofing.

In order to ensure that the electronic circuit technology can work better, car connectors are generally designed for shielding. The function of shielding can firstly protect the electronic circuit of the car, and secondly, it also has the effect of anti-interference and radiation on other parts. The shielding technology is divided into two types: inner shielding and outer shielding. The inner shield is to shield the influence of the radiation generated by itself on other parts; while the outer shield is to prevent the radiation interference of other parts from affecting its performance.

At present, the global automotive connector accounts for about 15% of the connector industry, and it is expected to occupy a larger proportion in the future driven by automotive electronic products. In terms of product cost structure, the average connector cost per car in China is only a few hundred yuan. Compared with foreign countries, the connector cost per car is about US$125 to US$150. China’s automotive connector market still has great development potential. In the future, each car will use 600-1,000 electronic connectors, far greater than the number used today.
