The Automotive Connector Seal is a common component used in vehicles to transmit current or signals.

The connectors are divided into categories, such as: sealing (for vehicle wet areas), unsealed (for vehicle dry areas), and safety related categories (airbag related). At the beginning of the design, according to the current carrying capacity of each PIN pin, PIN pins of different widths are selected, and then a chamber for accommodating different PIN pins is formed on the connector, thereby forming a housing for accommodating a plurality of PINs.

This paper analyzes the design ideas of the connector design from several different appearance structures of the connector and the assemblability of the molded case. They are CPA, Connector Position Assurance; Lever /Slider (lever), auxiliary mechanism; waterproof seal; TPA (Terminal Position Assurance), terminal secondary locking mechanism; Cavity, terminal chamber.

First of all, CPA, its function is to ensure that the buckle of the primary locking mechanism will not be easily withdrawn after the assembly of the molded case and the electrical interface is in place. Due to its special function, the CPA must be designed to ensure the operability and identifiability of the workers. Sex, this requires that the CPA must be an independent mechanism on the molded case, and must also have a special color mark.

TPA (Terminal Position Assurance), terminal secondary locking structure, not all terminals need secondary locking structure, VW requirements are 2.8mm (including 2.8) terminal width should use TPA, to ensure the installation of wire harness factory workers Convenient, the color of the TPA is also required to be identifiable, and the assembly must have a clear hand. To ensure that the TPA does not automatically enter the locking position during transport to the wire harness factory, the anti-locking mechanism is required on the TPA. of.

Connector Cavity Plug , terminal chamber, plastic housing to accommodate the terminal mechanism, in order to ensure that the electrical circuit is clear and reliable, the chamber must be numbered on the molded case, some OEMs are defined by ABCD, and some are defined by 1234. In order to ensure the operability of the wire harness factory workers, the terminal should enter the chamber smoothly into a locked position, and no strong push is allowed. This may cause damage to the key mechanism of the terminal, and the terminal should not be used. In the case of auxiliary tooling, it is pushed into the molded case. The pushing force is generally required to be no more than 15N. The GM requirement is 30N. After the terminal is pushed in, the top of the chamber needs to ensure that the terminal is not damaged under the force of 30N. The GM requirement is 50N. If not satisfied, the special mechanism design that protects the chamber from being damaged by the top needs to be considered.
